Individual and Couples Therapy

Welcome

Welcome to my therapy practice website, where you can learn more about the process of starting therapy together and my work. I work with adult individuals and couples.

Therapy is an invitation to learn more about yourself, your relationships, and to understand how past experiences influence who you are and who you want to be. Therapy is also an opportunity to work to attain a more holistic understanding of yourself and learn how to use coping strategies to manage stressors, improve your wellbeing, and generate a deeper and more meaningful sense of purpose and fulfillment in your life and relationships.

Therapeutic Approach

I have an interest in and extensive experience working with adults, couples, and college students; I also have a particular interest in working with people for whom identity and relational conflict are of interest. I pay special attention to how culture, gender, sexuality, race, ethnicity, and class influence our development, identity, and relationships.

My approach to therapy is relational, collaborative, and guided by attachment theories. I incorporate trauma-informed cognitive, emotion-focused, behavioral, and mindfulness techniques to address a variety of mental health concerns. I have specialized training in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), emotion focused couples therapy (EFCT), and psychodynamic therapy. I draw from a liberation health framework to make therapy accessible and meaningful for people from marginalized and oppressed communities.

How it Works

Initial Consultation and Assessment

First, we will schedule a 15-minute free consultation meeting to discuss your reasons for seeking therapy and to determine whether it makes sense to proceed with an initial assessment. You can schedule a consultation meeting by emailing me at quinterojohnson.therapy@gmail.com or calling (774) 570-5710.

Next, we will schedule an initial 1-hour assessment meeting, during which we will explore your reasons for seeking therapy. The purpose of this initial assessment period is to determine how therapy can help you at this time and whether we can work together to to help you achieve your treatment goals.

Ongoing Therapy Appointments

Currently, I offer teletherapy sessions by secure video conferencing. Once the initial assessment meeting is completed, we will arrange 1-hour therapy sessions on a weekly or biweekly basis.

Payment

The fee for each 1-hour therapy session is $175, which must be paid at the time of service by debit or credit card. I am not an in-network provider for any insurance plan but I can provide assistance with your submission of insurance claims for reimbursement. I do offer reduced rates based on sliding scale fees.
